Work n Playing

A jake ring that Oscar made for me, a My Little Pony hat I made for myself, and a vaguely Avril Lavigne-esque work outfit. Maybe I should have worn my Radiohead shirt? Har har

I really am very lucky that a) I love jewelry and b) my boyfriend is good at making jewelry.

The news of my life is as follows:

I am now the manager of Dejavu bar. My boss quit, and so I am doing his job. So far that has been both very stressful, and easy. Stressful because the idea of me managing anything seems insane, and easy because I already knew how to do most of the jobs, and so far the rest of them haven't been that hard. I'm worried that  it means I won't be able to get away from work as much, but having more $$ makes things easier.

My band just finished our first residency. It was rad! All the shows bar the second one went really well. The second one was fine but it was a quiet night, and we always play better when there are people dancing. The third show was a sci-fi spectacular, and I wish I had more photos. The last one we just played really, really fast. The Lounge were super awesome to us, and we loved playing there. I highly recommend trying to get a gig there if you're a band in Melbourne. They treat their bands really well.

This is the only photo I have of the sci-fi gig, credit goes to Georgie P:

Bleh

Just an outfit. I've photographed it before. Every time I wash this jumper it gets smaller. It started out as a baggy-ish adult sized jumper and now it looks like it's for a child. I made these skeleton earrings in purple and orange for halloween and life. I got some new lip tars that I'm excited about. And I'm extremely, immensely, overly and intensely stressed about moving house in less than two weeks when we are still giving in application forms. I have the sinking feeling it's going to be very hard to get our bond back. I hate everything to do with real estate agents and landlords.

I bought a ticket to Harvest though, and that is something to look forward to.

Wild

Wore stuff to a 'wild things' party, not sure what that meant but felt kind of right in this. Exploring the world of fake lashes. This is only my second foray into said world and it was mostly a positive experience. Basically, they're a bit annoying but you get used to them.

Not a lot going on, many conversations, job hunting (and being denied from Woolworths, what an ego boost! FML.) and house hunting. David Bowie. Beans. Whisky. Tim and Eric. Making creepy little dudes:

Music, games and presents.

A few things have been happening, like I graduated, but I haven't got the photos back in order to properly share it. In the meantime, here are some photos from today, from my band rehearsal. I'm in a band called Nun of the Tongue. I am the drummer.

This is our sexy lead singer, Oscar, also known as my boyfriend.

This is our bass player Hamish, also known as our housemate.

In other news, we played Dungeon Quest for the second time yesterday, but the first time properly, since the real first time was spent trying to figure out the ridiculous combat rules. It's a really fun game but the combat rules are stupid.

So yeah. Perhaps we will think of an alternative way to speed up the combat, because it really interrupts the flow of the game. It's a fast paced, crazy sort of game, and that's the appeal, so it's kind of a bummer when it gets all boring during the fighting. Apart from that though, I really enjoy it. I love it that it's really easy to die, out of nowhere. And it's different every time.

My friend Zoe of Texta Chainsaw Massacre made me this badge, and it is the cutest, best badge ever!! I am in the process of making her something in return, but it will never make up for how cool it is. You can order them from her blog. And yes, it fits in a matchbox. <3

And this is my new camera, with which I took all the photos! It was a graduation present from my parents. Thanks, parents. It is REALLY fun. Now I can take proper photos for my blog. Hooray.

Zeen

Spent my days off making a zine about stuff that I like, mostly so I can catalogue it all together, and remember it all when I'm making outfits... and also because it was fun.

Also these ghost earrings arrived in the post today and I am literally in love:

They are from this etsy shop and when I gather some more money I will be buying EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP. Literally. Soooo much cool stuff.

Supanova Time

Soo yes we did Supanova, and we did our Adventure Time cosplay. I think they turned out pretty well. As did everyone else, considering almost half the people there wanted a photo with us. It was AWESOME.

 I made Finn's hat, my hair and crown, my collar and belt. I luckily had the dress and tshirt already. My sewing machine decided to die the week I started the costume, so it was all hand sewn.    u__u;

Knives Chao! She was awes. Jake made his own hat, which I think he found epically frustrating, but was very proud of it afterwards. Hooray for sewing.

This girl was sooo amazing that I had to have a photo with her. Her hair and clothes are my most favourite colour scheme ever.

The perfect Katniss!!

CAPTAIN ADAMA!!!! I mean Edward James Olmos.

Best Tank Girl ever.

Original Rogue. <3

The whole Adventure time crew. Weren't these guys perfect?

It was the most fun thing ever. It was my third Supanova, but my first time cosplaying, and I think I'm addicted now. So much more fun than just dressing normally! My favourite part was the little kids who wanted photos with us, whose parents obviously let them watch AT. That is good parenting.

P.s. My makeup turned out kewl because I figured out how to do it nicely. I was rather proud of myself, because I'm a makeup noob and it was my first 'look'. I used the Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD palette called True Union Jack and I used it exactly how it said on the back, and then did a cat eye with liquid liner and mascara like normal. I also used Rimmel's Lasting Finish lipstick in Pink Blush, which.... is not great, but did the job. :)

Stuff I got recently

Just because they're pretty and stuff:

These tights and badges were from the Sydney Rd festival. Pastels, Barbie, Veronica and Snow White's evil stepmother/queen/witch. I thought they were approps.

Pokemon and Casper the friendly ghost stickers from a two dollar store in Coburg. Coburg is the official sticker central of Australia. My Little Pony fabric appliques and stickers, which were from this Ebay store, and which I am super happy with! I shall adorn my clothes with ponies and thus garner their magical pony powers (of friendship.) Next up: I have turned into a rainbow unicorn and have run away to eat icecream in the Candy Kingdom. :3

Nana's Birthday

Today was Nana's birthday and I ate a lot of ham. The end.

I wore these kind of LDR clothes and my fav urban decay eyeliner. It was in the Botanical Gardens. I got that dress at Kinki Gerlinki on sale for like $20 which is kewl. The shoes are from Zu and I made the headband one time I dressed up as Louise Brooks for a birthday party. I feel very full and lazy which is why I can't be bothered writing anything right now. It was a beautiful day, that perfect hot and sunny with a cool breeze. :))) Now I can watch Parks and Rec in bed.

Edit: Oh yeah, NBD, saw Wild Flag on Fri night. It was so fucking awesome. We were dancing so much in the last song (Romance) and then when we talked to Mary Timony afterwards she was like, "You guys were the ones dancing! You made me so happy!" .... And then we got a high five from Janet, who recognised my boyfriend because she could see him dancing so much from the stage. For reals, TOO MUCH.
